This is a spreading and lower growing shrub, usually compact. The lower surface of the leaf has a loose compacted silvery to fawn indumentum. This is a late flowering species.

The flowers of this species appear in various shades of orange, orange-red, yellow-flushed-red. The truss is lax with a prominent calyx.

This rhododendron will like partial sun, fertilizer on Valentine’s Day and Mother’s Day with gentle watering and well aerated soil.
