This plant comes from S.E. Sichuan and N. Guizhou, China. It’s species that is still being sorted out. Plants with thicker indumentum from the Erling Shan in central-west Sichuan are listed as R. denudatum. This plant that will eventually become a tall shrub. Nice rufous-tomentose leaves.

This rhododendron will like partial shade to moderate sun. It would love a woodland canopy. Provide
small amounts of fertilizer on Valentine’s Day and Mother’s Day, gentle watering, well-aerated soil with good drainage.
This plant’s hardiness has not been fully tested, but appears to be hardy in Western Washington.
